Hey everyone,
Everyone is screaming about AGI right now.
You hear it every day. "It's here." "It's sentient." "It will solve cancer."
It is getting loud. And when it gets loud, it is usually time to take a step back.
I want to cut through the hype. Let's look at what is actually coming in the next five years—and what is still just science fiction.
Coming Soon: World Models
Current AI (like ChatGPT) just predicts the next word. It doesn't actually know how the world works.
The next big leap is "World Models." These are AIs that build an internal map of reality. They understand cause and effect. They don't just write a story; they simulate the environment.
The Reality: This is the bridge to AI that can actually plan and reason. Expect this in the next 2-3 years. It will make AI agents way more useful.
AD BREAK
World Record Strength. Eight Government Contracts. Limited Shares.
A Guinness World Record sounds like a novelty, but it served as clear validation of the strength and real-world capability of RISE Robotics's technology.
Their Beltdraulic™ system set the record for the strongest robotic arm prototype ever built, demonstrating performance that is relevant across many sectors.
The arm is key to modernizing Munition Handling Units used by the Air Force, which recently awarded RISE a $3M contract. This is RISE’s 8th contract - a result of delivering successfully on past awards.
The company has raised over $27M and just opened up a limited allocation of shares to retail investors.
BACK TO POST
Coming Soon: Physical AI (Sort of)
We see videos of humanoid robots doing backflips. It looks like the future is here.
But the reality is messy. Robots are still clumsy. They struggle with tasks my three-year-old can do, like folding laundry.
The Reality: In 5 years, we will see specialized robots in warehouses and factories. But a robot butler in your kitchen? That is still a luxury for the late 2030s.
The AGI Haze
CEOs are claiming AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) is imminent.
Here is the truth. We will likely build AI that can do any cognitive task a human can do by 2030. It will write code, diagnose diseases, and run companies.
But is it "conscious"? No. It is just extremely competent math. True consciousness is a philosophical mystery we haven't even scratched.
Still Sci-Fi: Quantum + AI
Quantum computing is the next frontier. Combined with AI, it could solve problems in seconds that take supercomputers centuries.
The Reality: This is the "Fusion Energy" of tech. It is always 20 years away. In the next 5 years? Don't hold your breath. It is too expensive and too unstable.
The Bottom Line
The next five years will be wild. Software will get smarter. Agents will take over your workflow.
But the "sci-fi" apocalypse? That is mostly marketing.
Focus on the tools arriving today. The World Models and the Agents. That is where the real change is happening.
Catch you next time,
— Raja Tahoor Ahmad
